Snowmobiling
Fuel Up and Head Out
With its mild winter climate, deep powder, and boundless backcountry, Houston is a lesser-known dream destination for sledders who crave quiet trails and wild, wide-open spaces
Before you hit the trails, keep safety in mind:
- Know Your Limits: Some ungroomed areas require avalanche awareness and backcountry experience.
- Leave No Trace: Pack out what you bring in. Respect the land.
- Wildlife Awareness: Leave the area and alert other riders if you encounter wildlife.
- Ride Prepared: Check conditions, bring essentials (maps, fuel, emergency gear, satellite phones), and let someone know your plans.
A Sledder’s Heaven
Named Favourite Sled Town in Western Canada by SnoRiders Magazine in 2016, Houston’s winter riding season stretches from November to late spring, offering everything from family-friendly trails to challenging off-grid routes.
Maintained by the Houston Snowmobile Club, the area boasts four premier riding zones—each with its own character and level of adventure. Whether you’re carving through deep powder or tackling technical climbs, Houston delivers a winter playground worth the drive.
