Snowshoeing
Quiet Trails, Fresh Tracks
Snowshoeing is one of the easiest ways to get outside and enjoy winter in Houston. No lift lines, no big gear investment — just warm clothes, good boots, and a willingness to explore. Trailheads are close to town, so you can head out for a short loop or make a day of it.
Winter Hiking
Explore Houston’s winter trails beyond the ski tracks. Snow-draped forests, frozen creeks, and wide-open spaces invite a slower pace, whether you’re wildlife spotting, hiking to a frozen lake, or simply walking for the quiet.
Popular routes include Silverthorne Lake, Morice-Klinger Trails, Barrett Hat, Equity Ice Falls, Vallee Lake Recreation Area, and the Houston Mountain Bike Club trails.
Go at your own pace. Bring a thermos. Take the long way back.
