RIVERS AND MOUNTAINS – MORICE RIVER AND BUCKFLATS LOOP

Explore the natural beauty of Houston with the Morice River and Buck Flats Loop, a versatile route offering shorter and longer options for those wanting to go a bit further.

Start the Drive: Head west on Highway 16 and turn left onto the Morice River Forest Service Road. At 17 km, stop at the Aspen Recreation Site for a picnic or fishing. Continue to 28 km and turn left onto the Carrier Forest Service Road to enjoy stunning views of Morice Mountain.

Choose Your Route – Shorter Option: Stay on the Carrier Road and connect to Buck Flats Road. Pass the Morice Mountain Ski Trails and follow Buck Flats Road to Highway 16, turning right to return to Houston.

Choose Your Route – Longer Option: Turn onto Parrott Main Forest Service Road and follow it to Parrott Trail Road. Detour to the Buck Falls hiking trail for breathtaking views along the way. End the route at Buck Flats Road, returning to Highway 16.
